With another ongoing spike in the number of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations across the U.S., IMF Chairman of the Board Brian G.M. Durie reassesses the situation in his blog to clarify what actions need to be taken and to provide proper guidance to myeloma patients anew. Dr. Durie brings to light the rise of new omicron subvariants, the possibility of a “sixth wave,” and elaborates on ways to keep safe during these new COVID-19 surges and waves. On November 16, 2021, several members of the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) convened at a virtual round table to discuss best practices around optimizing treatment duration with selinexor therapy for patients with multiple myeloma (MM). The NLB identified resources and communication strategies to facilitate optimal management and supportive care for patients with MM on selinexor therapy in community practice. The IMF Regional Community Workshop — Mountain States will be held this Saturday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. MT (US and Canada). IMF Senior Director of Regional Community Workshops Kelly Cox will kick off the workshop. Guest speakers include Siddhartha Ganguly, MD, FACP (Houston Methodist Hospital — Houston, TX), Rafael Fonseca, MD, FACP (Mayo Clinic — Phoenix, AZ), and IMF Nurse Leadership Board (NLB) Member Tiffany Richards, PhD, ANP-BC (MD Anderson Cancer Center — Houston, TX). The workshop will include an introduction to myeloma, upfront treatments at diagnosis, maintenance therapy, relapse information, and an update on clinical trials. IMF NLB Member Tiffany Richards will talk about managing side effects and symptoms of myeloma and its treatments. After each presentation with the experts, attendees will have ample time to ask questions. |
