Cancer Drug Parity Act Press Coverage
The Cancer Drug Parity Act has been getting a lot of attention in the press as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has increased the urgency for legislation that will allow patients to more easily access orally administered cancer medications and keep them safe at home. Dozens of people, both patients and medical professionals have shared their stories with the press. To read about some of the news about the bill and how it will help patients right now, please visit https://www.access2cancercare.org/media/.

Bipartisan Group of Representatives Advocate for Cancer Drug Parity During Pandemic
Representatives Brian Higgins (D-NY), Brett Guthrie (R-KY), Doris Matsui (D-CA) and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) sent a letter to Congressional Leadership late last week. The letter highlights the importance of patient access to oral cancer medications during the COVID-19 pandemic and requests that subsequent coronavirus relief packages include the Cancer Drug Parity Act. The bill would improve access to oral drugs and help cancer patients stay home whenever it is medically feasible for them to do so.

We are grateful of these efforts being put forth by this bipartisan group of Representatives. View more about their efforts here. To let your Congressional Representatives know of your support for the Cancer Drug Parity Act during the COVID-19 pandemic, click here.
House of Representatives Passes HEROES Act
On May 15, 2020, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 6800, the HEROES Act. The bill, written by House Democrats, is a $3 trillion dollar package aimed at addressing the Covid-19 pandemic. The bill lacked bipartisan support and is not expected to advance in the Senate. Those supportive of the legislation view it as a starting point for negotiations on the next Covid-19 package. Those opposed to the bill believe analysis of previous efforts and bipartisan input is needed prior to moving forward. We will continue to keep you updated on Congressional efforts to address the pandemic and we remain dedicated to advocating for patients as negotiations continue.
