IMF Says FDA Approval of Bristol Myers Squibb’s and bluebird bio's CAR T-Cell Immunotherapy Treatment for Multiple Myeloma Is Welcome News for Patients
Calling it "a win for patients," the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) welcomed FDA approval on March 26 of Abecma (idecabtagene vicleucel), a B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA)-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell immunotherapy. Read the full press release now.

FDA Approves Isatuximab with Carfilzomib and Dexamethasone for Patients with Relapsed or Refractory Myeloma
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Sarclisa (isatuximab) in combination with carfilzomib and dexamethasone (Kd), for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) who have received one to three prior lines of therapy. The FDA approval is based on data from the phase III IKEMA study, a randomized, multi-center, open label clinical trial that enrolled 302 patients with relapsed multiple myeloma across 69 centers spanning 16 countries.

European Commission (EC) Approves Conditional Marketing Authorization for NEXPOVIO (selinexor)
On March 29, 2021, according to a press release from Karyopharm Therapeutics, "the European Commission (EC) has granted conditional marketing authorization for NEXPOVIO® (selinexor), the Company's first-in-class, oral Selective Inhibitor of Nuclear Export (SINE) medicine, in combination with dexamethasone for the treatment of multiple myeloma in adult patients who have received at least four prior therapies and whose disease is refractory to at least two proteasome inhibitors, two immunomodulatory agents, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody, and who have demonstrated disease progression on the last therapy."
