The next “Living Well with Myeloma” webinar will take place at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 12. During the webinar, myeloma patients and their caregivers will learn best practices to access physical support services, financial resources, and more. The speakers include IMF Nurse Leadership Board member Beth Faiman PhD, MSN, APRN-BC, AOCN®, FAAN; Oncology Social Worker Rebecca Zeiter, MSSA, LSW; and Financial Navigator Shonita Gamble, LSW. All the speakers are practicing in their fields at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute. The panel will discuss commonly encountered financial and other considerations that patients and caregivers may face. |

Register Now for the IMF Regional Community Workshop on August 7 |
The IMF Virtual Regional Community Workshop will cover an introduction to myeloma, upfront treatments at diagnosis, maintenance therapy, relapse information, and clinical trials. A member of the IMF Nurse Leadership Board will talk about managing side effects and symptoms of myeloma and its treatments. The expert panel includes Rafat Abonour, MD (Indiana University, Simon Cancer Center — Indianapolis); Agnes Paner, MD (Rush University Hospital — Chicago); and Kathleen Colson, RN, BSN, BS (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute — Boston). IMF Senior Director of Regional Community Workshops Kelly Cox will moderate the workshop. After each presentation, attendees will have time to ask questions. |

Angela Dirks Barto lost her battle with myeloma at the age of 44. To honor her memory, Angela’s loved ones are hosting a memorial golf tournament on Sunday, August 15, at 1 p.m. ET with the hope of supporting an IMF Research Grant. Calling All Researchers: Submit Your Grant Applications |
The Brian D. Novis Research Grants honor IMF founder Brian Novis, who succumbed to multiple myeloma in July of 1992. The grants are awarded to researchers working in the field of multiple myeloma and related disorders, including smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM), monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), and immunoglobulin-derived amyloidosis. The 2022 grants will support senior research projects with $80,000 each and junior research projects with $50,000 each. The deadline to submit the applications is October 1, 2021. |
