The Fainberg and Mencher families are coming together again to host the 2nd Annual Race to Beat Myeloma. Both of our families have been affected by this illness. Benson Klein, grandfather to Ava, Cece and Sebastian Fainberg, was diagnosed with myeloma in 1998. Andrew Mencher, father to Julia, Eliza and Nicholas Mencher, was diagnosed in September 2012. Both Andrew and Benson are living fun and full lives while continuing to fight the battle against myeloma.
This race started as a “mitzvah” project last Spring for Cece and Ava’s Bat Mitzvahs. Even though their Bat Mitzvah was almost a year ago, our families remain committed to give back to the IMF by raising money and awareness for a cause that means a great deal to all of us. Our teenagers have taken the lead in reaching out to sponsors, coordinating social media, and sharing information about myeloma, the IMF, and their race - to everyone they can.
Race to Beat Myeloma is a way to raise awareness for the disease and the physical and emotional impact that a diagnosis like myeloma can cause. The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) is a one-of-a-kind organization that works tirelessly to support the myeloma community and find a cure. To learn more about the IMF and the work it does, please visit myeloma.org.
Please come out and join our families for a day of nature, exercise, socializing, and giving to the IMF and the myeloma community. Hope to see you all there!
