Miracles Happen When Pigs Fly!

They do in Cincinnati, Ohio during the Flying Pig Marathon on May 5 & 6, 2018.  Our daughters, Ellen and Teresa, started this fundraiser seven years ago.  It has expanded to include our children, grandchildren, extended family, multiple myeloma patients, caregivers and friends. Through their efforts, $25,000 has been raised for the International Myeloma Foundation.   Multiple myeloma is a fatal blood cancer.  Due to advances in treatment and the availability of new drugs, life expectancy has improved from 2 – 3 years in 2000.  The International Myeloma Foundation has been an important part of our battle with this disease:  providing education, research dollars, guidelines, support for patients and families; and an initiative called the Black Swan Research Initiative® which is a major push to cure this disease.  The IMF provides support for our Cincy Myeloma Support Group.  Patients and caregivers benefit from speakers, education and mutual support.

This year, we will have participants in the Saturday events:  10K, 5K and the 26th mile run for children.  We will also be cheering the half marathoners on Sunday.  HOW CAN YOU HELP?  Consider participating in one of the events.  We will be walking the 5K and cheering for those participating in the 10K and the 26th mile run on Saturday.  We will also attend the marathon on Sunday to root on our runners.

We encourage your donation to the IMF which has a 5 star rating on Charity Navigator.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
