My name is Sylvia Hairston, and I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (MM), November 2016.  I was speechless, but immediately felt hopeful because I thought it was the cancer that Good Morning America's Robin Roberts, myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare bone cancer had been diagnosed with.  If she fought and survived, so would I.  Immediately, my doctor told me she didn’t have multiple myeloma, and once again I was speechless.  I had a cancer that I had never heard of, that did not have a known cure, and that is known to cut life expectancy short!  All I could think about was that I would not be around anymore ! I would have to say my final goodbyes, my forevers,  my final chapter of life as I know it to be. I wondered if I would be around and healthy enough to welcome my second grand daughter, my sweet Alani Jharie? I was so grateful that my daughter and son in law, allowed me to come to their ultrasound viewing! Who knew if that could have been my introduction and goodbye, who knew?

For the first five minutes of receiving the diagnose, I felt like I was on a nonstop roller coaster.  What was I going to do?  Since I couldn’t go inside my body and pull the cancer out, I decided to be positive, to be hopeful, to be and do whatever God had assigned for me to do with my “New Normal!”  I am very hopeful believing/knowing that I will be healed one day.  Meanwhile, I’m on a mission to bring awareness, and to raise as much money as I can to find a cure and to find more options for treatments!

Please help me by purchasing a ticket(s) to my first fundraiser event.
