Nancy's Passion for Patients
Twenty years ago, August 1998, my husband Mike was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer. We were fortunate to find the Atlanta Area Multiple Myeloma Support Groups (AAMMSG) and appreciated the encouragement and hope it provided us. Although Mike was told that he would not live two years, he lived over twelve years including a long remission. We enjoyed bonus years and used that time to enjoy travel and special times with family and friends.

Having been actively involved with the Atlanta Support Groups since those early years and leading the Northside group since 2007, I joined the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) in 2012. I now assist over 30 Myeloma Support Groups with a visit at least once per year.
My passion for helping patients and caregivers cannot happen without the IMF and AAMMSG. The IMF is dedicated to improving the quality of life of myeloma patients while working toward prevention and a cure. The Atlanta groups are constantly expanding their outreach and sharing information and hope with new patients and caregivers.
Interpreting clinical trials and research information from the IMF and coaching patients is what I enjoy while on the road. Spreading the great news about living longer with better quality of life is what every cancer patient wants to know. I encourage patients to stay informed and engage with their doctors about new treatment options.
I am raising funds for both of these amazing organizations so that they can find a cure and keep expanding their outreach. My goal is $20,000 for twenty years of progress and support for myeloma patients.
