Cristofaro DeMarinis was born on March 24, 1958 in Italy. He came to America as a young boy with his parents and six siblings. He started working in a local pizzeria near his home at the age of 13. In February 1980 he started working at Corato II, which had just opened its new location on Myrtle Avenue. Here he met his future brother-in-law and co-owner Marco Cerbone. They worked together for many years before they purchased Corato II in 1996. As new owners, it required long hours of hard work, dedication and sacrifices.
Unfortunately, in 1999 Cristofaro became ill and was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He underwent rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, followed by a bone marrow transplant. He continued to work throughout his treatment. Even when he was in Boston at the New England Medical Center receiving his bone marrow transplant, he kept in touch with daily operations of Corato. Once he recovered from his transplant, he was back at work, to the place he loved and was proud of. His physical abilities were impaired, but he continued to push himself. He may not have felt good, but he always managed to stay focused and positive at work and home. He fought hard and worked until the very end. He finally lost his battle with Multiple Myeloma on August 15, 2004.
In memory of Cristofaro DeMarinis a picture of him hangs on the wall of Corato II to honor him and 15 years since his passing. Our pizzeria will have its full menu at 50% off. We will also have great giveaways. Come join us at Corato's pizzeria to be a part of an amazing event!
